Top 5 Trends That Are Easy & Cool this Spring for the Southern Chick

Trend #1 - Silk Shorts:   We all love to throw on shorts after cooping our legs up in jeans and boots all winter. This season silk is the material of choice. Women should focus on comfortable yet sassy styles and enough coverage, so it doesn't look like they are wearing their fifteen year old daughter's shorts! Both bold colors and neutrals work or, if you are feeling wild, add in a pattern. I personally love a loose fit, drawstring short with a light knit top. Don't have to worry that any lumps and bumps are showing + it has a more relaxed vibe. Add a long necklace and a gladiator sandal or wedge and voila! Casual chic style is perfected!

Trend #2 - Colorful Jewelry: Everyone knows spring evokes color because everything around us is growing and blossoming in gorgeous tones. This spring is no exception. I can't get enough color so even on my darker tone outfits, I wear a colorful statement necklace.  Here in the south, color is one of our favorite things, so this colorful jewelry trend should be easy for us to embrace! Shorter length necklaces I pair with draping tops, button downs or boat neck tops.  Longer necklaces look best with anything over-sized or flowing, scoop necks, and tank tops.  Also, where long necklaces are concerned, the more the better (as long as it doesn't compete with your whole outfit). I've always been an advocate of the "more is more" philosophy. A wrist full of these colorful Olivia & Diego bracelets looks phenomenal when added to a jeans & simple tee shirt outfit. LOVE!

Trend #3 - Banded Sandals: We've heard Carrie Bradshaw carry on about how much she loved strappy sandals and now they're back & better than ever!  These sandals have elastic bands which are secure on your foot so you don't have a wipe out moment! BTW, don't be afraid to mix-n-match trends: Our favorite things to pair these sandals with are silk shorts (mentioned above), mini-dresses and a pair of skinny boyfriend jeans rolled up twice.  Add a leather fringe necklace and the outfit will be boho-fab and right on trend.

Trend #4 - Coral Colored Clothing & Jewelry: Being raised on Miami Beach, I've always been a lover of the color coral. This year it just so happens that everyone is on my bandwagon because it's one of spring's top tones. It pairs amazingly well with other colors and pops like crazy with white.  Spring's other top color choice are pastels. Guess what???? Coral looks phenomenal with mint and pale yellow too. You get to do top trends effortlessly if you add coral pieces into your mix! Fashion has never been easier.

Trend #5 - Cuffed Sweat Pants:  I feel like this trend is a love em or leave em trend. I personally love em, but we've had some difficulty getting our southern gal to work them into her wardrobe.  They scream casual cool if done right for the day and hip chic if done right for night. For daytime, what works well is to throw on a simple tee, slightly push up the bottom of the leg cuffs, add a pair of flip flops or platform slip on sneakers, and then top it off with a long leather necklace or a baseball cap. For a night out, you can wear them pushed up or down, throw on a silk flowing top (optimally a tank), a sparkly necklace and a pair of mac daddy heels.  No matter how you style them, I adore the look and hope that my customers join me because this is by far one of the most comfy styles we've seen in years.

Since blogging is new to me, I'd love some feed back. Which of these trends do you think  you'll do? Is our advice on how to style them helpful? Did you think there were any trends that we missed that would work well here in the south?
