Sexy, Sophisticated or Relaxed Style?
One of my favorite things about fashion is that it has no boundaries. Depending on where I am, who I'm with and what I'm doing, my style spectrum ranges all across the board. I'd say my top three favorite styles are sexy, sophisticated & relaxed. At different phases of my life, each one was a front-runner but they were all always in my mix.

SEXY - When I was younger my aim was always to impress men and get as much attention as possible, so 90% of what I wore was sexy. I couldn't get enough of cropped shirts or any other strategically placed cuts or slits that showed off my fabulous, young skin and toned abs. I remember trying to convince my mom that I could wear this expensive outfit I wanted to a wedding because even though the top was midriff baring, fringe was covering my belly. Needless to say, I didn't win that battle but I did end up getting a fitted dress with shoulder pads and rocked it (loved the 80's)! Nowadays, I still like to dress sexy, just in a more age-appropriate way. Rather than baring it all, I like to choose one part of my body to accentuate.
RELAXED - In my late 20's I not only did I dress sexy, I also started branching into a more casual & relaxed style. Evenings were still fair game for racy clothes but what I viewed as sexy was changing. Since I was buttoned up all day at work by 6pm, I cared a lot more about being relaxed and comfortable too. Luckily for me, this time frame coincided with the beginning of the designer jean and shoe craze. My nights out included a pair of Diesel jeans, a flirty cropped tank and heels. As a matter of fact, I bought my first pair of Jimmy Choos on sale from $325 for $170 (wow, I'd take that full price Choos vs. now-a-days any time) and they were incorporated into almost every evening outfit if at all possible. What I love about relaxed style is that it never looks or feels like I've tried too hard and it usually is easy to transition from day-to-night.
Right is me and friend in Chicago headed out for the evening seven years ago.
Both are casual chic styles that were comfortable, too.
SOPHISTICATED - In my 20's and early 30's I worked in corporate America, so my style motto during the day changed to a lot more sophisticated and sometimes even preppy. Suits, knee-length tailored skirts & dresses, and pants with button downs ruled my days. My nights had a lot more dresses & silk tops in the mix to add a refined touch. I learned that dressing sophisticated earned a different type of appreciation from both men and women. Please keep in mind, sophisticated looks don't have to mean boring and mine never were. Then & now I'm a huge fan of dresses with interesting cuts & a pop of color. The sophistication comes with just the right fit and clean lines +++ you can exponentially increase the look with a gorgeous up-do.
What style do you think best suits you now and when you were younger? We'd love to hear from you!
